Adding a new chandelier to the dining room with a chandelier from West Elm.

It’s the last Monday of 2015 and so far it has been a great one!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are successfully getting back to the hustle and bustle of the work flow. I’ve got one more week before I head back to teaching.  I’m going to try and make the most of it by knocking out a few home projects that have forever been on my list to accomplish.

I did get one done yesterday with the help of my amazing and very patient husband.  Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a new dining room chandelier! Cue the confetti! Our dining room was one of the first rooms completed in our home except for this little detail.  All of the other decisions came easily but I was truly stumped on picking the chandelier.  We had our heart set on one at our local Home Depot but let’s be real, the price tag of chandeliers we nearly cried about.  I debated on making another one {especially after successfully making our orb chandelier} but decided against it.

Ryan surprised me with the chandelier a few days ago! Gasp!  But an even bigger gasp?  We returned it after we both agreed we didn’t like it in the space.  To make a story short: 5 trips to different stores, 4 returns, disassembling 2 chandeliers after getting them up, and one glass of wine later we have a winner! Here’s a look at the before and after:

Before and After of installing a new chandelier

We didn’t want anything that would overwhelm the space due to the stenciled wall.  Too much of a good thing can be, well, too much.  We found our chandelier at our local West Elm and it was truly meant to be because of a random {and amazing} coupon that was emailed to me to use one day only.  . . the day we were getting it!

I’m thinking of adding a few succulents to the dining room table, some greenery at least, and calling it a day. I’m so pleased and excited about our new addition to the dining room! Dinner party anyone?  Now I’m off to tackle a few more things on my Monday to-do list.  It just might include moving my work space to the farmhouse table just so I can occasionally look up at our new home decor.
