Do you ever have that room in your home where you continuously tell yourself you’ll eventually paint it every time you see it? Or do you go ahead and shut the door so you don’t even have to see it? That’s exactly how I felt about our guest bedroom. I see it on my way to the playroom, Oliver’s room, my office, and even from the living room. So, you could say I had enough after 6 months of looking at it and decided to give it a fresh coat of paint. Here’s the room that taunted me every day with it’s bold colors and the after.
As if the duo of canary yellow and bold burgundy wasn’t enough, a border wallpaper ran along the mid-section of the wall trying to bring the two colors together. This room is very spacious but the colors made it feel as if the walls were closing in. It certainly didn’t give off the bright light like the rest of our home.
I have a vision for this room: calming, a breath of fresh air, and a little bit of coastal to remind me of my hometown in South Carolina. I knew right away I wanted a very, very light green/blue color. I headed to Sherwin-Williams (of course) and grabbed a hand full of samples. I found a color I knew I had to have and had Sherwin-Williams lighten it by 50% (more on that later). Say hello to Rainwashed.
You know when you picture a certain color and you try your hardest to find it? Usually, it doesn’t happen. But, my friends, this time it did. What I envisioned for this space became a reality. A little elbow grease to get the wallpaper off the walls, a little primer, and two coats of paint later, we have a completely different room! The power of paint is something I’ll never get over when it comes to making over a space.
We aren’t done with this room just yet! After finding this beautiful paint color, I simply couldn’t wait to share it with all of you. I know you’ve heard all the rage about Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. Well, make some room! Rainwashed just became Sea Salt’s rival.
So, what’s next? I’m headed to World Market this weekend and shopping my home to decorate the space. So excited! I’ve been eyeing a few items that will completely pull this room together! One thing I’ll definitely be keeping and not change in the space is this rug. The colors work perfectly with the new paint color. There you have! A midpoint check in with our guest bedroom. Keep an eye out for the full reveal this coming week.
Thank you for always joining me! Let’s keep in touch!
