Creating a Daily Routine for a Productive Day

October 15, 2016

Creating a Daily Routine to achieve goals

I have a new normal, a new schedule, and a new set of responsibilities now that we have little Oliver Finn. That’s right, we had a baby boy! He made his debut September 12th and is already a month old.  This little peach of ours needs to slow down with growing up.  I’ve learned a lot in the past month mentally, physically (hello coffee), and overall about myself.  I’ve learned that I best function with a daily routine to get my day started successfully with this new amazing normal. It not only provides a productive day, but a day where I feel my best as myself and as a new mama.

I want to share with you the 5 things I do every morning after my snuggles and kisses with my little man.  They don’t always happen in this order and they vary in the time it takes to complete them.  But it’s my little routine that helps set a purpose to my day and makes it a productive one!  I would be lost without it.

A very special thank you to Influenster for sending me the YSL Vinyl Cream to share with all of you today.

Creating a daily routine for a productive day

1. Coffee, Coffee, Coffee

I seriously can’t function without coffee.  I look forward to my hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning.  As I’m getting Oliver ready my coffee is already brewing. It instantly gets me focused for the day ahead.  Where are my coffee lovers?  You know exactly what I’m talking about!

2. Get Dressed for the Day

As soon as my coffee is brewing, I get dressed for the day.  I pick out my clothes the night before so they’re out and ready.  Don’t get me wrong, sometimes this consists of yoga pants and my favorite tank.  Regardless, it’s setting a purpose and makes me feel ready to tackle the day.  Don’t forget your shoes!  There’s something about slipping my shoes on that completes the outfit and allows me to hit the ground running. I also apply mascara and my go-to lipstick, YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain, for a fresh look.  It’s quick, lasts throughout the day, and leaves me feeling and looking refreshed after one application.  This color, Rose Mix, is simply gorgeous for a pop of color but not too bold.

3. Make my Bed

This is one part of my routine that might happen right away or it might happen around lunch time. Depending on when I can break away from my little man this is one of the first things that I do. Having my bed made makes me feel as if I’ve accomplished something and creates a tidy room instantly.  It allows me to focus on other areas of my day that I need to accomplish in an organized way.

4. Create a To-Do List

I am a pen and paper gal 100% when it comes to planners, calendars, and to-do lists.  Each morning I write down my goals and what I need to accomplish that day.  Don’t write down too many things you want to accomplish. It will leave you feeling defeated at the end of the day if you don’t get to them all.  Write down what you know you can cross off your list.

5. Listen to a Pod-Cast

There are so many pod-casts that enlighten, motivate, and teach you new insights when it comes to everyday life and business. I try to listen to one every morning with the goal of learning something new about being a stay at home mom while pursuing this blog of mine, learning a new skill, or just to inspire me for the day ahead.  What I love about a pod-cast is that you can listen to them while cleaning the house, getting ready for the day, knocking off your to-do list, or simply riding in the car. Here are my two favorite pod-casts:

I thrive on a routine!  My whole day is thrown off course if I’m not able to do these 5 things.  They motivate me, relax me, and help get my mind ready for the day ahead. Have you ever left your cell phone at home? Or ran out of your favorite mascara before a big day?  Then you know the feeling of having your routine messed up and the rest of your day being unbalanced.  Take my daily routine on as your own or create a new one. I would love to know your daily routine!  There’s always room to add to mine.

Thank you for always supporting my blog! Please know I received the YSL Vinyl Cream complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes but all opinions are my own.

This time of year is full of organizing and purgin This time of year is full of organizing and purging to bring spaces back to life. But sometimes all a space needs to feel refreshed is, well, a refresh and a little attention. Your number one requested space was the living room. So I gave mine a refresh with some unique and gorgeous finds from @homesense_us . I found a few fun pots for my houseplants, a gorgeous magnifying glass, and a few other items for our coffee table and couch.

I never know what I’m going to find when I walk into Homesense since it’s always rotating with amazing finds. But I do know I’ll walk out with a few new favorites for my home at affordable prices. If you haven’t yet, I urge you to check and see if you have a Homesense near you! #DiscoverHomesense #HomesensePartner
2022, you were awesome. But I’m determined to ma 2022, you were awesome. But I’m determined to make 2023 even better! And I hope you join me! We can be one of our biggest cheerleaders, but together we’re going to do big things. Go ahead and write down a big, small and a few in-between projects you want to get done this year in your home. Kicking it off with intention and that reminder that we can do this. Ready to get started?! Let me know in the comments the first project you want to tackle!
We finally got the Christmas/winter edition of the We finally got the Christmas/winter edition of the window projection up and running! It was a hit for Halloween and just as fun for this time of year as well. I built frames wrapped with a plastic drop cloth but you can also secure the drop cloth over the windows using command strips. The videos are from @atmosfx and we use a mini projector to play them on the screen. Place a Bluetooth speaker outside and you’re in business! Such a fun addition this time of year for the exterior of your home.
It’s the last little bit of the demo we needed t It’s the last little bit of the demo we needed to do in order to give the green light for the pool to start. And 2,456 pavers later, it’s done! This was exhausting but worth the money we saved doing it ourselves. And why remove them? We’re using a different stone around the pool and we want it to be cohesive up to the house. Don’t worry, someone got one heck of a deal on these pavers, we made a little money, and someone else got them out of our driveway. I’d say that’s a win-win. Stayed tuned for the entire pool process as we enter 2023. It’s going to be pretty exciting to watch!
Our patio space has served us so well over the yea Our patio space has served us so well over the years and now it’s time for a change because we’re getting a POOL!! Sharing this with you makes it even more real because just a year ago I would have told you it isn’t in the cards for us. We’ll be breaking ground soon but first we have to remove the screen enclosure. Spoiler: we won’t be putting one back up around the pool. It has already made the biggest difference visually and SO much natural light pours into our home now with it gone. It’s going to be so exciting seeing this all unfold so stay tuned! Up next: removing the pavers.
This holiday season we were able to travel to my h This holiday season we were able to travel to my hometown for the first time in awhile. We were greeted by the most beautiful sunset on the beach. Fast forward to this week as I headed to @homesense_us for some holiday shopping, and I ended up finding a few pieces for our home that remind me of that core memory on the beach. The beautiful wicker bench caught my eye first followed by the comforter and toss pillows. Everything at amazing price points while not sacrificing style and quality. #HomesensePartner

Mixing a thrill of a find with a core memory, I guarantee you'll fall in love with your home even more as you go to decorate. Decorating your home isn't grasping on to the newest trend or what you think others would do. It's what YOU want to do. And sometimes that's based on an emotional connection. Oh, the stories your spaces will be able to tell as you decorate each one. Start with seeing if there’s a @homesense_us near you! #DiscoverHomesense #HomesenseSarasota

I wanted to place an all white Christmas village in the transom window above our door and knew there could be an affordable way to do it. That’s when parchment paper came to mind. I can can create my own houses that can easily be seen from the inside and outside of our home, the “frostiness” of the parchment paper gives them the perfect amount of glow from the twinkle lights, and I only spent $3 on the paper! Perfect for any window in your home. Love figuring out new ways to decorate this transom window for the holidays. Will you be trying this? Great for a last minute decor idea as well!

You can even switch out “merry” for a last name or another word of choice. I tried to make this as easy as possible and without using a Cricut machine to create the stencil.

From the parchment paper Christmas village in the window to the island pines, did you spot something you want to try in your own home? And fun fact: Did you know nutcrackers originated in Germany as a folklore to bring luck to a family and protect their home?
