Y’all, my mind has been in overdrive lately with home projects. Like I said, my mind! I’ve got this great list of DIY projects, home projects, and ideas, yet I’ve hesitated to start any of them. A mixture of my thoughts {thinking something better will come along}, work, and lots of napping {hello pregnancy} placed a hold on projects. . . until now!
A few weekends ago we added some landscaping to our front yard that got the home decorating juices flowing again. Today, I finally completed a project that had me reaching my inner Joanna Gaines. Several weeks ago I posted this image on my IG as a little sneak peak for a project to come.
I found these drool-worthy copper buckets in the One Spot at Target. These buckets are super unique due to the back of the bucket being flat. I originally bought them because I thought they would look great on my fireplace mantle or foyer table, propped against the wall with fresh flowers. Then the DIY inspiration hit me! I could easily turn these into wall decor! I ran {literally} to the garage and found the prefect piece of wood in my husband’s scrap wood pile.
I immediately sanded the board, added a light gray stain all over the board, and roughly painted a layer of white chalk paint. This was followed by sanding the chalk paint for a ‘worn’ look once it was dry. I also took the time to use copper spray paint to spray paint the screws being used for the buckets to help them blend in.
I still have no idea how I managed to hang the buckets all in a straight line on the board but I’ll take it! It was then just a matter of hanging the buckets on the screws to complete the wall hanging. Including the drying time, this project took about 2 hours from start to finish {1 hour for the stain to dry and 30 minutes for the chalk paint to dry}.
I absolutely love the outcome. I recruited Ryan to help me hang it. I was already pushing it with placing the buckets on the piece of wood in a straight line. I didn’t want to jinx it! To add an extra special touch and to make it feel as if I had been featured on Fixer Upper, I added magnolias to each bucket. . the kind I can’t kill. Let’s be honest!
I spent a total of $12 on this project, partially due to already having some of the materials at home, and I couldn’t be happier! This project help decorate an odd space on my living room wall while also creating a one of a kind wall hanging. I’d call it a successful morning! Now, to keep checking off my goal and idea list. I’ve been trying to find copper buckets like yours for a long time now. Have any hints as to where I could get buckets like the ones on your site? Flat on the back.
