Living Room Refresh with SANUS

October 23, 2018

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of SANUS; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

My friends, the moment has finally arrived! Part of our living room received a well overdue refresh that leaves me watching just one more episode of The Crown so I can keep enjoying the space. I bet you didn’t know a newly installed wall mounted TV could do that, did you? It truly is an unexpected way to transform and tie a whole space together.

When we moved into our home a little over a year ago, it was a blank slate just waiting to be transformed. Of course, you can’t do everything at once, especially when trying to stick to a budget. So, needless to say our living room hadn’t been touched except for placing our main living room items in the space including a few pieces of furniture that were never meant to stay. Here’s the before image of the living room space we transformed just to give you an idea of where we started and then the final design.

Our living room refresh was inspired by wanting to install a full motion TV wall mount by SANUS for a more modern look and to get our TV off the media console.  Then that led to adding a modern gallery wall, lighting, and updating our media console which we ended up building.  A few small changes created such a huge impact when it came to this refresh.  So, where did we even begin?

On SANUS’ website you can answer a few questions about your TV and how you’re wanting to display it. Within just a few clicks, you’re provided with the best SANUS TV mounts for you. Still not sure? You can also check out their Ultimate Guide to Picking a TV Mount.

For our mount, we wanted to be able to extend, tilt, and swivel our TV so it can viewed from adjoining rooms and the chairs beside the media console. We decided on the Full Motion TV Mount and I was able to install the TV in under an hour which was amazing with a toddler running around. Ryan did swoop in for the last step because there was no way I was hanging the TV on my own due to the size. But it honestly felt like hanging a heavy mirror when attaching it to the wall plate.  With a few basic tools on hand, it surprisingly only took three steps from beginning to end. Here they are!

How to Install a SANUS TV Wall Mount

1. Attach the brackets to the back of your TV using a Philips head screwdriver.

2. Install the wall plate (make sure to attach to studs).

3. Hang the TV on the wall plate.

Installing a SANUS TV Wall Mount

I couldn’t believe that’s all it took. I did have the Unboxing and Mounting Your SANUS TV Mount video on stand-by but didn’t even look at it. After only a day of having it installed, we realized what we’ve been missing out on. As you can tell, we have large windows next to the TV that cast the biggest glare. It’s so nice throughout the day to be able to slightly swivel and tilt the TV so that the glare is gone.

And I know one of our biggest concerns was the safety of mounting a TV on the wall especially with Oliver running around. It’s such a relief to know that all of the SANUS mounts are tested to meet the requirement of being able to hold up to 4x the amount of weight they’re rated to hold.

The saying better late than never is so true with this space! By taking our time to truly think about what we wanted, we were able to create a space that we’ll enjoy for years to come. To be honest, I’m kind of obsessed with how it turned out! By adding the large framed images on both sides of the TV with individual lighting, it helped create a modern gallery wall while making the space functional and appealing to the eye.

And of course we didn’t stop there. We said goodbye to the thrifted cabinet and introduced the media console that we built that now balances out the size of the TV. And just in case you love the idea of a wall mounted TV but want a different look overall, you can check other TV accent wall ideas.

I’m beyond excited we finally focused on this area of our home. A few simple changes and using the SANUS wall mount made the biggest difference! This time of year is full of organizing and purgin This time of year is full of organizing and purging to bring spaces back to life. But sometimes all a space needs to feel refreshed is, well, a refresh and a little attention. Your number one requested space was the living room. So I gave mine a refresh with some unique and gorgeous finds from @homesense_us . I found a few fun pots for my houseplants, a gorgeous magnifying glass, and a few other items for our coffee table and couch.

I never know what I’m going to find when I walk into Homesense since it’s always rotating with amazing finds. But I do know I’ll walk out with a few new favorites for my home at affordable prices. If you haven’t yet, I urge you to check and see if you have a Homesense near you! #DiscoverHomesense #HomesensePartner

It was a hit for Halloween and just as fun for this time of year as well. I built frames wrapped with a plastic drop cloth but you can also secure the drop cloth over the windows using command strips. The videos are from @atmosfx and we use a mini projector to play them on the screen. Place a Bluetooth speaker outside and you’re in business! Such a fun addition this time of year for the exterior of your home.
It’s the last little bit of the demo we needed t It’s the last little bit of the demo we needed to do in order to give the green light for the pool to start. And 2,456 pavers later, it’s done! This was exhausting but worth the money we saved doing it ourselves. And why remove them? We’re using a different stone around the pool and we want it to be cohesive up to the house. Don’t worry, someone got one heck of a deal on these pavers, we made a little money, and someone else got them out of our driveway. I’d say that’s a win-win. Stayed tuned for the entire pool process as we enter 2023. It’s going to be pretty exciting to watch!
Our patio space has served us so well over the yea Our patio space has served us so well over the years and now it’s time for a change because we’re getting a POOL!! Sharing this with you makes it even more real because just a year ago I would have told you it isn’t in the cards for us. We’ll be breaking ground soon but first we have to remove the screen enclosure. Spoiler: we won’t be putting one back up around the pool. It has already made the biggest difference visually and SO much natural light pours into our home now with it gone. It’s going to be so exciting seeing this all unfold so stay tuned! Up next: removing the pavers.
This holiday season we were able to travel to my h This holiday season we were able to travel to my hometown for the first time in awhile. We were greeted by the most beautiful sunset on the beach. Fast forward to this week as I headed to @homesense_us for some holiday shopping, and I ended up finding a few pieces for our home that remind me of that core memory on the beach. The beautiful wicker bench caught my eye first followed by the comforter and toss pillows. Everything at amazing price points while not sacrificing style and quality. #HomesensePartner

Mixing a thrill of a find with a core memory, I guarantee you'll fall in love with your home even more as you go to decorate. Oh, the stories your spaces will be able to tell as you decorate each one. Start with seeing if there’s a @homesense_us near you! #DiscoverHomesense #HomesenseSarasota
