What You’ll Need to Create the Window Projection

How to Setup the Window Projection

Step 1: Pick a Window and Place Command Strips
Pick the window you want the window projection in. This can be a single window or a group of windows like mine. Stick two command strips together to make a pair and repeat for as many as you need. Remove the backing of one side of the pairs and apply them to the wall around your window (one on each corner and one in the middle of each side). Add more if needed.

Step 2: Attach the Drop Cloth
Peel off the back of the command strips on the wall and line up your drop cloth and press onto the command strips. Make sure to pull the plastic sheet tight as you secure it to the strips. Bonus: this setup lets you remove the sheet during the day and reattach it easily at night and no wall damage!

Step 3: Cut the Plastic Drop Cloth
Now that you have the plastic drop cloth secured to the command strips and covering the window, cut off any excess drop cloth.

Step 4: Set Up the Video + Sound
Download the witch scene video to your computer and set it to loop. Connect your Bluetooth speaker and place it outside so the sound of the video can be heard outside.

Step 5: Project the Magic
Place your projector on a stand and aim it at the drop cloth. Adjust the angle and size until the video fills the window perfectly. Press play and watch as your house transforms into the ultimate witchy haunt seen from the outside.

Styling Tips for the Halloween Window Projection

  • Works best on front-facing windows where people can clearly see the scene.
  • Use a fog machine outside for extra drama.
  • Sync with outdoor Halloween decor like cauldrons, pumpkins, or glowing lanterns.
  • Keep the sound at a level that’s spooky but still neighborhood friendly.
