Oh, how I’ve missed Fresh Flower Friday! The past two Fridays were spent staring at my new yard trying figure out where to begin. Then I remembered it’s summer, I live in Florida, and it’s 90 degrees by 8 am. I think we’ve decided the yard will be a project we’ll tackle come the fall. Until then, I can start filling all of my pots with flowers. I realized during the move how much of a plant lady I am when it took two trips with my car and Ryan’s truck to get all the plants to our new home.
I’m needing a little inspiration after several of my flowers didn’t make the transition. Poor things. I’m wanting pops of color and also plants that will help fight off mosquitoes on my back patio. They’re already overwhelming and this gal is allergic. Here are a few of my favorite!
I’m obsessed with this garden box Ashley Brooke Designs created for her backyard. Who says you have to plant your flowers directly in the ground? Her newly flipped backyard is giving me so much inspiration! You’ve got to check it out.
Better Homes and Gardens shows us how to group potted plants using various heights when it comes to steps and the height of the flowers. This immediately caught my eye because of the lavender used. It’s a natural repellent for mosquitoes.
Growing up in South Carolina, Boston Ferns were a staple to any front porch. I’ve recently added a few hanging ones to my patio but I love how these have been incorporated into a pot. This screams southern and I absolutely love it!
If you have the window space to add a garden box, why not!? This has always been a dream of mine so I need to find a way to make it happen. The abundance of flowers flowing over this garden box makes it stunning!
With all of this inspiration, I certainly need to find a starting point. I know I’ll be picking up a few pieces of lavender this weekend to help combat the mosquitoes. If you’re like me and don’t have the time to garden at the moment, come join me at Paper Goat Post tonight! I’ll be slinging flowers and showing you how to make a seasonal centerpiece. Have a great weekend!
