How to Create a Halloween Gallery Wall

There’s something about Halloween decor that makes me want to go all in. An insane amount of pumpkins on the porch? Absolutely. A witchy planter or two throughout the house? Of course!  And why not take it one step further and create a gallery wall that’s Halloween theme as well.

And let me tell you, it’s such a fun, unexpected way to bring the spooky season indoors. Think oversized artwork, moody frames, and playful details that transform a blank wall into a spooky season focal point. The best part? It’s surprisingly easy and budget-friendly when you know where to look.

Step 1: Find Your Artwork on Etsy

Etsy is my go-to when it comes to finding Halloween prints. There’s an endless collection of digital downloads. Everything from vintage-inspired witches and moody black cats to whimsical illustrations and spooky photography. The best part about digital downloads is flexibility: once you purchase a file, you can print it in whatever size you want and however many times you need.

I love browsing Etsy until I find the exact vibe I’m going for. Going with my School for Witches theme that I add to every year, I added a gallery of vintage headshots of witches. Giving the vibe of having the headmasters of the school displayed.

I also found a few fun prints on Amazon! You can check them out here.

Step 2: Print Large for Maximum Impact

This is where the magic happens. Instead of sticking to small frames, I wanted bold, oversized artwork that instantly makes a statement. Enter Walgreens photo printing.

You can upload your digital downloads online, select poster sizes (like 16×20 or 20×30), and pick them up the same day. They almost always have a promo code for a percentage off, which makes it super affordable to go big. I ended up saving quite a bit by waiting for their weekly promo code before placing my order.

Step 3: Pick the Perfect Frames

Frames set the tone for the entire wall. Depending on the vibe you’re going with, you can go with all black frames for a spooky classic look. Or you can mix black frames for that moody, gothic look with a few gold or brass frames for vintage charm. I found my large frames at an affordable price at IKEA!

If you’ve got old frames lying around, don’t be afraid to give them a quick spray paint makeover in black or metallic. It’s an easy, budget-friendly way to make them look brand new. And don’t skip the mats! A simple white or cream mat makes bold Halloween prints feel elevated and polished.

Step 4: Arrange Your Gallery Wall

Here’s where the fun really begins. I always start by laying everything out on the floor so I can play with different arrangements before committing to the wall.

  • Symmetrical layouts feel polished and intentional.
  • Asymmetrical layouts feel more like a curated witch’s library—collected and a little whimsical.

Once I land on a layout, I use shipping paper to map it out on the wall. That way, I know exactly where each frame is going before I start hammering. Also, makes it way easier to line things up.

Step 5: Add the Spooky Details

A Halloween gallery wall doesn’t have to stop at artwork. Add a little magic by layering in 3D elements:

  • Hang a witch hat or broomstick between frames.
  • Add 3D bats or black butterflies flying across the gallery wall
  • Drape faux bat garlands or spider webs.
  • Mix in floating shelves to hold potion bottles or small pumpkins.
  • Add battery-operated candles or fairy lights so your gallery glows at night.

These little touches take your gallery from cute to full-on Halloween moment. I’ve linked everything I use here on my Amazon page!
