Lighting our Outdoor Patio for Spring and Summer

April 22, 2019

This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own.

Every year we try to improve our outdoor living space because it’s truly an area of our home that we use often. You can find us out on our patio eating lunch and dinner, enjoying a cold drink while taking in the view, relaxing at night after a long day and even catching a nap or two.

This year I’ve decided to focus on a corner of our patio that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention. Mainly because we’re not able to use the space once it gets dark due to it not having any lighting. I know it would be the coziest spot if it did! This week I’ve decided to change that by adding outdoor lighting and giving the space a mini refresh with the decor. Here’s the before of the space:

I wanted to make this project as easy as possible but also one that had a huge impact. That’s when I decided to try the Enbrighten Color Changing Cafe Lightsthroughout the ceiling of this patio space. By using concrete screws I was able to successfully hang them throughout the ceiling space where I needed them while also working around the fan.

I had 48 feet to work with which was perfect! I could have gone with 24 feet but wanted to make the most of the space when it comes to lighting. And by using the white cord, the Enbrighten Color Changing Cafe Lights blend very well with the ceiling. I also want to mention that these are made to withstand year-round exposure to the elements which is music to my ears. I install them this one time and leave them! No more taking down and putting back up as the seasons change. Especially since the acrylic Edison-bulbs are impact resistant and won’t break if they are dropped or if the wind gets to them.

The addition of these lights alone has already made the biggest difference for this patio space. What was once a dark and dreary space is already starting to light up. Oh, the joy lights can bring to a space!

Now this brings us to another slight issue with our patio space. We have lighting in our larger covered area and now the smaller patio on the opposite side. The screened mid-section of the patio is now the darkest area of the patio due to only having one small light on one of the exterior walls. Last year we created a garden bed that goes along the length of the patio and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I went with the Enbrighten  Mini Landscape Lights by installing them the entire length of the garden bed by simply pushing them into the ground with the stake each light comes with. The 46 ft. strand of puck lights easily covered the entire length. I used the mulch to cover the electrical cord for an even more finished look. I’ve always wanted to try this because it will achieve two things: letting our flowers show off at night in the flower garden and it will light up the entire length of our patio. With these Enbrighten Mini Landscape Lights being premium quality, they’ll do great year-round in the garden beds as well.

And let me tell you, my friends, these lights have changed the whole look and feel of our entire patio space! They light up the plants, the patio and the house. It took our patio from being hidden in the dark to showing off the curves and features that it has. Just take a look at this space at night from the outside of the patio. The glow of the lights truly changed the entire feel and look of our patio!

Now, here’s where things get a little fun!The Enbrighten Seasons Color Changing Cafe Lights & Mini Landscape Lights are also color changing and can be controlled with one remote. There are over 120 possible color combo changes. Although the soft white is my go-to color, I can’t wait to switch things up for Christmas, game day, Fourth of July or changing them to different colors just because. And it’s all done with a single remote that will allow you to change the colors, place the lights on a timer, dim the lighting and so much more.

Before I called it a day, I also gave the small patio space a well overdue refresh. Now that we have lighting, I know we’ll use this space more than ever. I added pillows, a cushion for additional seating on the floor, a blanket for those chilly nights, plants and a few other decor items. It always amazes me how just a few small changes and additions can make a huge difference! Especially when it comes to small spaces. You see, my friends, I planned this one right! Not only do I have new lighting to enjoy but I also have a comfortable and welcoming spot to enjoy them in.

I’m honestly giddy with excitement and in awe with what these lights did for our patio space. It looks stunning at night and we’re now able to use each space! Ryan and I even walked walk out into our yard multiple times just so we could see the overall look.

It’s these little changes that create a huge impact in a space. It doesn’t matter if it’s for you to enjoy as a family, for a cookout you’re hosting or a holiday gathering. Your home is meant to be lived in and enjoyed. These Enbrighten Seasons Color Changing Cafe Lights & Mini Landscape Lights have helped my family accomplish that and so much more on our patio. I hope this gives you some inspiration of what’s possible with your outdoor space when it comes to lighting and decor. You can buy them here on Amazon!

We got the call that the pool build is starting! W We got the call that the pool build is starting! Which had me scrambling to dig up all the plants that were in the way in an effort to save them. Literally down to the last second before the crew showed up. Exciting day but you know what’s even more exciting? Knowing the next crew will officially be breaking ground with the excavation phase of the build.
This time of year is full of organizing and purgin This time of year is full of organizing and purging to bring spaces back to life. But sometimes all a space needs to feel refreshed is, well, a refresh and a little attention. Your number one requested space was the living room. So I gave mine a refresh with some unique and gorgeous finds from @homesense_us . I found a few fun pots for my houseplants, a gorgeous magnifying glass, and a few other items for our coffee table and couch.

I never know what I’m going to find when I walk into Homesense since it’s always rotating with amazing finds. But I do know I’ll walk out with a few new favorites for my home at affordable prices. If you haven’t yet, I urge you to check and see if you have a Homesense near you! #DiscoverHomesense #HomesensePartner

We can be one of our biggest cheerleaders, but together we’re going to do big things. Go ahead and write down a big, small and a few in-between projects you want to get done this year in your home. Kicking it off with intention and that reminder that we can do this. Ready to get started?! Let me know in the comments the first project you want to tackle!
We finally got the Christmas/winter edition of the We finally got the Christmas/winter edition of the window projection up and running! It was a hit for Halloween and just as fun for this time of year as well. I built frames wrapped with a plastic drop cloth but you can also secure the drop cloth over the windows using command strips. The videos are from @atmosfx and we use a mini projector to play them on the screen. Place a Bluetooth speaker outside and you’re in business! Such a fun addition this time of year for the exterior of your home.
It’s the last little bit of the demo we needed t It’s the last little bit of the demo we needed to do in order to give the green light for the pool to start. And 2,456 pavers later, it’s done! This was exhausting but worth the money we saved doing it ourselves. And why remove them? We’re using a different stone around the pool and we want it to be cohesive up to the house. Don’t worry, someone got one heck of a deal on these pavers, we made a little money, and someone else got them out of our driveway. I’d say that’s a win-win. Stayed tuned for the entire pool process as we enter 2023. It’s going to be pretty exciting to watch!
Our patio space has served us so well over the yea Our patio space has served us so well over the years and now it’s time for a change because we’re getting a POOL!! Sharing this with you makes it even more real because just a year ago I would have told you it isn’t in the cards for us. We’ll be breaking ground soon but first we have to remove the screen enclosure. Spoiler: we won’t be putting one back up around the pool. It has already made the biggest difference visually and SO much natural light pours into our home now with it gone. It’s going to be so exciting seeing this all unfold so stay tuned! Up next: removing the pavers.
This holiday season we were able to travel to my h This holiday season we were able to travel to my hometown for the first time in awhile. We were greeted by the most beautiful sunset on the beach. Fast forward to this week as I headed to @homesense_us for some holiday shopping, and I ended up finding a few pieces for our home that remind me of that core memory on the beach. The beautiful wicker bench caught my eye first followed by the comforter and toss pillows. Everything at amazing price points while not sacrificing style and quality. #HomesensePartner

Mixing a thrill of a find with a core memory, I guarantee you'll fall in love with your home even more as you go to decorate. Decorating your home isn't grasping on to the newest trend or what you think others would do. It's what YOU want to do. And sometimes that's based on an emotional connection. Oh, the stories your spaces will be able to tell as you decorate each one. Start with seeing if there’s a @homesense_us near you! #DiscoverHomesense #HomesenseSarasota
